Many students are already thrilled about the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games. This is particularly true for two primary school classes inLausanne who, thanks to a learning opportunity provided by theirteachers, are working on a project related to the Olympics. On their program: presentation of Lausanne 2020, a fact sheet about winter sports and an exploration of the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
The 40 some students, from 8 to 10 years old, then explored the rules of water polo, which became an Olympic sport in 1900. Theystarted to play it during their swimming lessons, but in quite anastounding way. Adam Scholefield, an English Olympic athlete and member of the Lausanne 2020 Athletes' Council, joined the students to initiate them to the sport. He then shared with the students what a typical day is like for a top-level athlete, as well as answering all their questions. What a fabulous moment that will be remembered by the young students for a long time.
